Ceol Binn Linn are nine amateur musicians who either started music late in life or returned to it after many years not playing. They get great enjoyment from the music and playing together and wish to share that delight with others.
They play Irish music in arrangements influenced by Sean O’Riada, Na Filí and The Chieftains. This includes music by O’Carolan, airs, waltz tunes, the odd jig, hornpipe or reel and recitations of poetry along with one or two songs. They perform an acoustic set in intimate settings without amplification.
Their musicians have performed at annual concerts at St. Brigid’s Church, Corhownagh, Ballisodare, Co. Sligo for many years and members of the group play at weekly sessions in McLaughlin’s Pub in Sligo. This is where the idea came to form a group with a specific theme.
Since their launch on 1st May 2026 they have performed to enthusiastic audiences at The Céide Fields Mayo, Calry Hall Sligo (a special concert for The Women’s Shed), Ballintogher Rambling House, King House Boyle (for the Cultural Companions series) and look forward to launching their autumn series of regional performances in their hometown of Sligo at The Hawk's Well Theatre Lunchtime series.
