Hailing from the rich musical heartlands of Sligo and Fermanagh, Caoimhe Kearins and Chris Maguire are a duet rooted in tradition and shaped by years of performing at the highest level of Irish music.
Fiddle player and singer Caoimhe Kearins from Ballymote, Co. Sligo, is a fourth-generation musician and one of the finest stylists of her generation. She is a multi-All-Ireland champion, with Senior titles in fiddle, female singing, lilting and trio, along with the prestigious Fiddler of Dooney award. A respected teacher and primary school educator, she has performed, tutored and adjudicated for Comhaltas across Ireland, Britain, Europe, North and South America, with appearances on RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta, TG4’s Geantraí and Fleadh TV.
Chris Maguire is an All-Ireland Senior Button Accordion Champion, celebrated for his powerful lift, rhythm and distinctive Ulster style. A multiple All-Ireland winner with céilí band and trio, he has performed in Luxembourg, France and Chicago, represented Ulster at the BBC Folk Awards in London, toured with Comhaltas across Canada, Ireland and England.
Both musicians are enjoying sharing Irish Traditional Music with musicians of all ages and abilities locally in Sligo through Comhaltas branches Loch Gile, Cnoc na Ré, TradAcad and workshops across Ireland, Europe and America.
The two are looking forward to be returning to the stage at the Hawks’ Well Lunchtime concerts during the Summer and hope to be joined on the day by a special guest artist! Stay tuned for more.
