Introducing Bob Kelly: Theatre Artist in Residence at the Hawk's Well
We are delighted to have actor and director Bob Kelly as our Theatre Artist in Residence for 2015/2016 and 2016/2017. The purpose of this scheme is to offer theatre artists the opportunity to create a year-long work programme in partnership with venues and local authorities. The specific contents of the work programme will be designed by Bob Kelly in collaboration with the Hawk’s Well and Sligo County Council Arts Service.
Originally a member of Sligo Youth Theatre, Bob studied theatre at the prestigious Ecole de Jacques Lecoq in Paris, graduating in 2010. Since then he has performed in the Louvre, The Abbey and at the Royal Ballet School. He is a regular collaborator with Blue Raincoat Theatre Company, and in 2012 was nominated for an Irish Times Theatre Award for his work with them on The Poor Mouth. Most recently he has played Christy in the Blue Raincoat's production of The Playboy of the Western World and he has just performed in Once, the Musical on the Olympia stage over the last two summers.
Bob worked with us researching and developing new creative projects to mark the centenary of the 1916 Rising including an ambitious new performance project, The Big Wall. Bob is working on developing our Theatre Training Programme through workshops, rehearsed readings and discussions including hosting a 'chat show' after selected theatrical performances.
