Curation Opportunity for Transition Year Students
The Takeover 2023
For the 2023 The TakeOver Programme, Transition Year student Ruairi Callaghan presented a selection of scenes he wrote as a work in progress in the Hawk's Well Theatre's foyer on the 16th of May. The hilarious slapstick comedy was performed by fellow TY Summerhill College students Darragh O’ Keeffe, Joseph McEvoy, Aodhán Shovelin and his younger brother Cormac Callaghan, with Abhainn Savage as stage-hand. Playwright & Actor Bob Kelly worked as mentor to Ruairi on the project.
The TakeOver is an opportunity for 15 – 17 year olds who are interested in event management and the Arts to plan and manage their own programme of events at the Hawk's Well. The curators attended weekly meetings at the theatre from March through to May.
This year's The TakeOver Young Curators were: Amelia McCarthy, Peter Darby, Ruairi Callaghan and Jay Jacques.
