List of date and times for a Youth Creative Workshop against a colourful background

5 Wednesdays of workshops held in The Crib.

This project, under the Creative Youth Strand, brings together The CRIB Youth & Family Support Project (Foróige), Sligo Music Development (SMD), Sligo BID and Hawk’s Well Theatre to deliver a transformative creative program for young people in Sligo and the surrounding areas. The project bridges the gap between youth who face many challenges, such as exclusion from education and social isolation, and those who are actively engaged in traditional schooling. We hope that this project will be successful in creating an environment of mutual understanding and creative growth.

Through a series of workshops and performances in 2025, this initiative will harness the power of music, comedy, and storytelling. Students will use the power of the arts and creativity to build resilience, confidence, positive mindset, with the aim of fulfilling their potential. By working with experienced facilitators, professional artists well-known in the North-West, the project supports Sligo’s Culture and Creativity Strategy (2023-2027) by enabling young people to explore their own identities through meaningful artistic expression and cultivate a vibrant creative community with each other.

Project Objectives:

Provide a Safe and Supportive Space for young artists to upskill:
Young artists will be given the opportunity to learn or further develop skills in the creative practice of their particular field of interest, whether this is on stage or back stage

Develop further a youth centred, arts based Sligo network:
This project will further strengthen a developing partnership with a number of organisations active in the art and youth sectors. This can help with developing audiences, reaching groups who might experience barriers to arts participation and future, collaborative projects.
