Sligo's virtuoso tin whistle player Carmel Gunning, has celebrated fifty years as a composer, teacher, performer, collector, researcher and author.


The Sligo Maid.

A multi instrumentalist, her style of music is fast paced based on the North Connaught style. She will be joined by special guests Sophie Hanley and Paul Gunning.

Carmel has toured, taught music and singing and performed world wide - teaches all year round and hosts a Summer School locally.

She has appeared on RTE, TG4, BBC and ITV and is featured regularly on radio programmes at home and abroad.

Recently, she published The Sligo Maid Book of Compositions, The Shamrocks from Geevagh Songbook and CD Cathair Shligigh.

Past Pupils included, Liam Kelly, Jacob Fournel, Orlaith McAuliffe, Aisling O'Reilly, June Nic Chormaic.

This free event takes place in the foyer, and no ticket is required.
