A new theatre/movement work exploring themes of masculinity, authority, childhood and generational trauma, performed by Diarmuid Armstrong and Hannah Rogerson.
Bob Kelly and Diarmuid Armstrong are a theatre maker and dancer/choreographer duo from the west of Ireland – both trained in different European movement schools.
Coming from a rich musical background, Diarmuid trained at the Fontys Dance Academy, graduating in 2021. He has since worked with leading artists and companies, including Luke
Murphy, Liz Roche Company, CoisCéim, Irish Modern Dance Theatre, Luail, and Catherine Young. His choreographic work Texture Like Sun premiered at Fringe 2023.
Bob trained at the Ecole de Jacques Lecoq and has received critical acclaim for his theatre work as both actor and writer/director. As an actor he has performed widely in Ireland, Europe and beyond; his creative work focuses on Irish identity and blends social realism and magical realism. Recent projects include The Hare (Once Off Productions); Breakfast on Pluto: The Musical (Landmark Productions) and Tintown (Blue Raincoat).
The development of Barbarian has been supported by Cairde Sligo Arts Festival, Hawk’s Well Theatre, Sligo Arts Service and Blue Raincoat Theatre Company.
