AIB Community Fund Hawkswell Theatre 7

Hawk’s Well Theatre announced that it has received an award of €28,000, from the third annual AIB Community €1 Million Fund, to help with its community engagement and education work.

Over the last two years, the AIB Community €1 Million Fund has supported over 150 charities across Ireland. Earlier this year, AIB asked its customers, the wider public, and staff to again nominate registered charities, that connect with causes that matter most to them and their communities, in the AIB Community €1 Million Fund.

Speaking about receipt of the award, Kieran Griffiths, Director of Hawk’s Well Theatre said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this funding from AIB, which will be vital in sustaining Hawk’s Well Pathways – an educational and engagement programme for people of all abilities, experience levels and walks of life. We believe that participation in the arts improves mental health, quality of life and societal wellbeing. That’s the grand idea but in the end, we proudly administer this funding from AIB, in the hope, that it will positively impact the human heart.”

Roisin Mulligan
, Fundraising and Development Manager of Hawk’s Well Theatre said: “We are truly humbled by the incredible support shown to Hawk’s Well Theatre, and are grateful to every person who voted for us to win this transformative award.”

Through Hawk's Well Pathways, the theatre facilitates workshops, provides courses, and creates groups so that everyone in the community can participate in the arts - and gain the confidence, skills and experience to create something extraordinary. Current projects include Shine, which provides drama classes to people with intellectual disabilities, Cultural Companions, which provides opportunities for social and artistic interactions for older members of the community, and Community Orchestra, which gives everyone the chance to be part of a collective and share the joy of music together. Speaking about the Fund, AIB Managing Director Retail Banking, Geraldine Casey said: “We are delighted once again this year to support over 70 charities through the AIB Community €1 Million Fund. AIB is deeply rooted in towns across the country, and we are privileged to be able to provide much needed funding to those who are making such a powerful contribution to improving the lives of those who live in these communities. I would like to thank our customers and the public for taking the time to nominate these very worthy charities.’’
