Bealtaine at Hawk’s Well: A Celebration of Creativity & Connection

This May marks 22 years of Sligo’s Bealtaine Festival, and Hawk’s Well Theatre is delighted to celebrate with a vibrant line-up of performances that promise to inspire, entertain, and connect audiences of all ages.
On Thursday May 7th Seven Letters takes to the stage - a poignant tribute to the everyday women who carry the quiet weight of memory and resilience in their hearts. These women have faced love, abandonment, hope, and heartbreak, yet they persist, often finding strength through wit and laughter. The play poignantly reminds us that while our youth slips away too quickly, the passage of time can sometimes feel interminable.
Friday 16th May sees Common Ground: An Intergenerational Celebration of Creativity, an inspiring project that connects generations through original, devised pieces. This creative collaboration culminates in a special performance for Bealtaine. The workshops behind this project are directed and facilitated by Niamh McGrath, Hawk’s Well artist in residence for 2025.
Then join us for a free lunchtime event on Saturday 17th May as Lola Montez & Lady Morgan: An Imagined Conversation takes the spotlight - two remarkable women who defied convention and followed their dreams in the early 1800s. Brought to life by Marianne Fahy and Maura Logue, and written and directed by Maura Logue.
Curated by Sligo County Council’s Arts Service Department, the Bealtaine Festival Sligo has grown by including local arts and cultural venues, artists’ studio collectives, community gardens and care settings.
