A one-day creative workshop with award-winning writer/actress/director Monica McCarthy.
ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR:
Monica McCarthy is an actress, writer, director, and podcast host who recently moved to Sligo from Los Angeles.
Her acting credits include theatre: Broadway (with Laura Linney and Alicia Silverstone), Edinburgh Fringe Festival, regional theaters and Television and FIlm with roles on The Noel Diaries (Netflix), FBI (CBS), The Blacklist (NBC), and Mildred Pierce (HBO). Monica received her MA in Creative Writing and Literature from Harvard University and her BA in Theater from Pepperdine University, Malibu.
As a writer, Monica's plays and screenplays have been selected for the Chateau Orquevaux Artist-Writer Residency in France, the Athena Film Festival Writers Lab in NYC, The National Winter Playwrights Retreat in Colorado, and a play reading at the New Plays Lab at the Inge Festival in Kansas. Monica was selected for the Hollywood Radio & Television Society Mentorship Program and was a Semifinalist for The Writer’s Lab in NYC.
As a filmmaker, Monica directed, wrote, produced, and starred in the comedic short film Survival Job that won over a dozen awards on the festival circuit across the United States and UK.
Monica's popular event series and podcast The Happier Hour: Philosophy To Help Life Suck Less was featured in The New York Times and Time Out New York. Monica is currently co-writing a feature, a television pilot, a play, and a novel.
