In this brand new theatre production, Betty Duffy and Cahal Flynn explore a childhood in rural Ireland, reminiscing about a time when old boys told tales by the fire and a story could take you on an adventure.

In this one-man show, actor and writer Cahal Flynn explores his own experiences of this stage of our social history, during his childhood in rural Ireland, as he reminisces about a time when old boys told tales by the fire and a story could take you on an adventure.

Growing up on the banks of the Shannon and originally from Newtownforbes, Flynn has strong family connections in Rooskey and the broader region. Having taken up non-fiction writing over ten years ago, he has more recently been writing for the stage. Pure Medicine is his highly successful debut and was first performed at The Axis Ballymun in Summer 2022 to sold-out audiences.

Director Betty Duffy is an actress, drama facilitator, and director with over 20 years of experience.

Most recently, she has represented Ireland as an artist for Buzz Europe Network in Germany and is involved in mentoring different aerial artists and directing within Taking Flight, Education and Performance.
