Funny. Fearless. Utterly human.
From the pen of Marie Jones, writer of the global hit Stones in His Pockets, comes a theatrical tour-de-force that has captivated audiences worldwide for over three decades.
Kenneth McCallister is an ordinary man, living an ordinary life, following the rules he has always known… until one night at a football match shakes his sense of identity to its core.
As the crowd roars, a chant cuts through the stadium:“Greysteel Seven… Ireland Nil.”
The words mock the horrific 1993 Greysteel massacre, in which civilians celebrating Halloween were murdered in an act of sectarian violence. In that moment, Kenneth is forced to confront the reality of what hatred sounds like when it is sung as entertainment. The laughter around him no longer feels harmless. The belonging he once took for granted begins to fracture.
What follows is a deeply moving, often hilarious journey into empathy, courage and self-discovery.
Performed by the hugely skilled Sligo actor Bob Kelly, who brings over twenty vivid characters to life with breathtaking precision, A Night in November becomes an electrifying piece of storytelling - intimate, immediate and alive.
With razor-sharp humour and disarming honesty, the play explores how inherited identities can imprison us, and how the simple act of listening can begin to set us free.
Both laugh-out-loud funny and quietly profound, this is theatre that invites us to look again at who we are, where we belong, and what it means to recognise ourselves in each other.
One actor. Twenty characters. A moment of awakening that changes everything.
