Sligo’s first Children’s Book Festival coming soon…

Join us for a weekend celebrating family literacy and creativity for parents and young children, Opening on March 1 this exciting new festival is brought to you by the Hawk's Well Theatre, The Model and Kid's own. With great events happening at the Hawk's Well as part of the festival such as kids favourite The Gruffalo’s  Child presented by Tall Stories Theatre company, and Silver Tree  a gentle first time theatre experience for children aged 0-9 months and their carers and Rabhlaí, Rabhlaí which is a book of traditional rhymes in Irish for children, set to music created by the wonderful Steve Cooney. Sligo’s very own stage version stars 16 children from 8 local schools alongside Steve Cooney and a band of professional traditional musicians as they bring the book to life in a very special production.

 

There are more great events happening all across Sligo such as The Kids' Own Book Factory at The Model which is a unique installation for early years children. Where children become a reader, a writer, an artist, and a publisher! Also Itsy Bitsy’s an exciting live and interactive performance, followed by a spider-making workshop at The Model with Kate Wilson.
