Online Courses Return
Hawk’s Well Theatre is pleased to announce the return of some of their most popular courses, which begin new sessions online in April, and with current pandemic restrictions ongoing, what better time than to pick up a new skill or to brush up on some old ones? Whether it’s in music, writing, or a chance to tickle the funny bone, the theatre has something for all.

Delivered by the Savage Eye contributor, this engaging workshop will help to develop your unique writing style and also enable you to present your ideas in a short stand-up comedy set. Offering a much needed opportunity to laugh about lockdown, this course will be delivered over Zoom. “We can definitely vouch for the Comedy with John Colleary at the Hawk’s Well Theatre”, says the team at So Sligo Comedy Festival; “[the course is well worth doing, even if you don't have aspirations of becoming a stand up. It's just great fun!”
Launching the same day and running for the same six week period, John Joe Kelly’s ever-popular Bodhrán Workshops return. Renowned worldwide for his energetic teaching methods, this is a rare opportunity to enjoy tutelage under the watchful eye of the bodhrán master. Welcoming both experienced players and beginners in two separate sessions, although the intermediate workshop is now sold out, places for beginners are still available.

Finally, Cathy Jordan will once again delve into Traditional Song, from Wed 14 April – Wed 19 May. Praised for her inimitable style, one participant to the Dervish singer’s January classes said; “Cathy worked very hard for the hour, repeating songs over and over. She was also very encouraging and a bit of craic too”. Cathy will deliver two virtual singing workshops; Songs Everyone Should Know, from 6.30pm; and Songs That Will Wow from 8pm. The 6.30pm session is aimed at people of all skill levels and explores songs that everyone should have in their repertoire, while the latter will appeal to those who like to take a solo from time to time; expanding repertoire and delving into more advanced skill progression.
