Hawk’s Well Theatre & FleadhFest Team Up For Trad At Lunch.
The popular lunchtime music session Trad@Lunch returns to Hawk’s Well Theatre with a FleadhFest special! These intimate concerts are famous for featuring some of Ireland’s most renowned musicians and rising stars. Hawk’s Well Theatre in partnership with FleadhFest have pulled out all the stops to ensure Sligo audiences and digital viewers across the global enjoy the very best of Irish music this August.
It begins Monday 2nd August with ‘The Two Revs’. The coming together of two well-known and much loved talented musical Reverend friends! The Rev Canon Gary Hastings (Dublin) and Rev Father Seamus Quinn (Belcoo) will be accompanied by the award-winner dancer and musician Samantha Harvey. A unique session which will stir the soul – and feet! Followed on Tuesday 3rd August by ‘Bloom Of Youth’, comprising two members from each of the Gavin and Glancy families, Tom (flute) & Kate (fiddle, harp) Gavin with Aaron (button accordion, dance) & Ava Glancy (fiddle, dance). This concert will showcase the exceptional musical talent to be found in the Sligo area. On Wednesday 4th August, celebrating the launch of his new album, ‘At home with McKenna’, Dervish flute player Liam Kelly brings the music of the 1920/30s back to life playing John McKenna’s original Concert ‘D’ flute accompanied by Kevin Brehony on keyboard. The festival series finale is ‘The McGuinness Family of Dromore West’. Award winning siblings Damien (button accordion), Jason (fiddle) & Lorna (flute) are steeped in the wonderful tradition of Sligo Music.
These gigs will offer a lovely opportunity to escape in the middle of a busy day and enjoy live music in a relaxed and safe environment. In line with Government public health recommendations, seating capacity is limited and tickets must be pre-booked in advance.
