Golf Classic - In Aid of Hawk's Well Theatre Renovation Fund
Calling all Golfer’s - Hawk’s Well Theatre’s inaugural fundraising Golf Classic is taking place at the prestigious Sligo County Golf Club, Rosses Point on Friday 5th of July. This event is anticipated to be a major highlight in the North West’s golfing calendar and will help raise funds to renovate and secure our much loved theatre for generations to come.
There are still some slots available to play in this team of four competitions (men’s, women’s & mixed), teeing off at 8am, last card at 4pm. Places can be booked here.
A fantastic range of prizes and goodie bags have been provided from local businesses to the value of €3000 with prizes on offer from Lough Gill Distillery, FitBit, Revive Active, Voya Seaweed Baths, Kieran Quinn, Baker Boys, Sligo Park Hotel, Austies Bar & Restaurant, The Glasshouse Hotel, Jones Oil, and Good4U.

The team at the theatre are currently fundraising to renovate the building which is in dire need of capital investment due to physical and technical challenges. Renovating the Hawk’s Well is an unprecedented opportunity to develop and secure the theatre for generations to come.
Major renovations and improvements are planned at an estimated cost of €1.27 million. These plans include:
- A landmark rebuild of the theatre’s entrance and foyer space.
- Essential flood prevention measures to alleviate flooding in the auditorium.
- Installation of a lift to improve accessibility.
- Much needed seating upgrades in the auditorium.
- Long awaited hearing assistance system.
- Essential backstage and equipment upgrades.
The theatre has secured two major capital grants. €550,000 from the Department of Arts and €78,278 from Sligo LEADER Partnership. Each grant stipulates that the theatre is required to provide match funding in order to access the funds. To date €300,000 has been fundraised by the theatre. €100,000 in funding has also been pledged from Sligo County Council.
The team are also planning a late summer celebration fundraiser at Markree Castle on Wednesday 4th of September with an intimate musical performance in the stunning castle chapel and a late summer feast in the Grand Hall.
