First Light - featuring Adrian Crowley & Nocturnes
A celebration of positive mental health through music and words featuring Choice Music Prize winner, Adrian Crowley and ambient Irish-folk group, Nocturnes. Founded in 2009, First Fortnight is a charity that challenges mental health prejudice through arts and cultural action. In 2018 they are teaming up with Sligo-based record label Bluestack Records to present - for the first time - First Fortnight events in Sligo.
Dubbed 'the best songwriter that no-one's heard of' by legend Ryan Adams in a Rolling Stone magazine interview, Adrian Crowley has continually stunned fans and newcomers alike in a career spanning 6 albums. First Light is an unmissable opportunity to see a master in action at The Hawkswell.
Nocturnes are no ordinary band. Described by The Irish Times as bringing 'subtle elements of the fantastical ' their new age noir sounds have been in great demand on the festival circuit. One of RTÉ Culture's favourite groups, Nocturnes are a must-see.
Shane Martin of MOODWATCHERS has been added to the lineup at the Hawk's Well Theatre, Sligo on Friday night. Shane is a chartered psychologist dedicated to teaching self-help psychology to empower people to enhance the quality of their lives. His ‘Moodwatchers’ psychology course has been delivered at venues throughout the length and breadth of Ireland and his recent book ‘Your Precious Life - How to Live it Well’ has as good as sold out in bookshops nationwide.
Shane will give a brief talk about the psychology of flow and the importance of social connectivity.
