Gerry O’Beirne is one of Ireland’s most loved and respected songwriters. Songs such as Western Highway, The Holy Ground and Shades of Gloria become classic Irish folk songs of our time and have been recorded and revered by well-known artists including Mary Black, Maura O’Connell and Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh.
Fleadh Cheoil, August 2015
A member of the band Midnight Well, Gerry is no stranger to Sligo and in this very special concert, musicians and singers from near and far gathered to celebrate his songs. Maura O’Connell, Seamus Begley, Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh, Pauline Scanlon and many more came together for this tribute night. A musical style that blends the passion found in traditional music with a contemporary freshness, Gerry's songs tell of a yearning for home, romantic love, and the spiritual qualities of place. His albums have received much acclaim around the world, and he has produced and arranged music for many others including Patrick Street, Kevin Burke and Micheál O’Domhnaill.
“His works are simple, elegiac and exquisitely worded pen pictures of life’s experiences.” - Rock ‘N’ Reel
