This concert was a celebration of the impact of Michael Coleman and featured a host of Sligo musicians who play in the style of the great master.

Fleadh Cheoil, August 2014

The circulation of Michael Coleman’s 78-rpm records breathed new energy into traditional music throughout the country during a time of great hardship. Some would argue that these new influences sustained the tradition at a time when all over Europe the practice of handing down native folk music was virtually dying out.

So great was the musical activity in Michael Coleman’s home house that it was often called "Jamesy Coleman’s’ Music Hall" after his father. This concert was a celebration of the impact of Michael Coleman and featured a host of Sligo musicians who play in the style of the great master.
