Winners of the Childrens Poet of the Year 2017 competition were announced at a ceremony at the Hawk's Well on Yeats Day. The competition rules were very simple. Entrants had to compose a five line poem based on the theme ‘The Wild Swans at Coole’ and all entrants needed to be in primary school. read more

We have major renovation plans for our 35 year old theatre and now need the support of the public to raise €160K over the next 4 years. Plans include  - a landmark renovation of the theatre’s entrance and foyer space, seating upgrade and a hearing assistance system in the auditorium and flood prevention measures. read more

A big thanks to Niamh Crowley, Sligo Academy of Music and all the musicians and performers at the Sligo Academy of Music Gala on Friday 21st of April who will be donating all the proceeds from the event to the theatre's renovation fund. This will be a fantastic evening of music featuring Sligo Academy of Music Sinfonietta, Jazz Orchestra, Junior Orchestras and Voice Squad; the Summerhill College Choir, the County Sligo Golf Club Male Voice Choir, Sligo Gospel Choir and Jonathan Carter, Eoin Troy, Joe Hunt, Niamh Crowley, Keith O'Donnell and Leonard Dorrian. read more

Sligo Children's Book Festival took place from Thursday the 2nd to Sunday the 5th of March, with lots of book-related fun activities for children to enjoy. Events took place at the Hawk’s Well Theatre and The Model, kicking off with a Dr. Suess’ 113th Birthday Party at The Model which was opened by Sligo mayor, Marie Casserly. read more
