Hawk’s Well Theatre is delighted to announce Time at the Well – a performing artist support scheme offering four short residency opportunities in 2018. Open to practising performance artists with a proven track record and a new project that needs floor time for development, Time at the Well provides workspace (or studio space) and stipend to each of the four creative practitioners with a one-week residency at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre for two of the selected artists.  read more

Reflecting the truly global impact of the competition; the 2017 winner is poet Tammy Armstrong, Nova Scotia, Canada, for her poem ‘The Varying Hare’. The emerging winner for poets of 16-25 years of age is Cynthia Miller, Birmingham U.K. with her work ‘The Last Hour on the Flight Deck’.... read more

Winners of the Childrens Poet of the Year 2017 competition announced

Winners of the Childrens Poet of the Year 2017 competition were announced at a ceremony at the Hawk's Well on Yeats Day. The competition rules were very simple. Entrants had to compose a five line poem based on the theme ‘The Wild Swans at Coole’ and all entrants needed to be in primary school. read more

We have major renovation plans for our 35 year old theatre and now need the support of the public to raise €160K over the next 4 years. Plans include  - a landmark renovation of the theatre’s entrance and foyer space, seating upgrade and a hearing assistance system in the auditorium and flood prevention measures. read more
